1 Month Check-up

Connor had his 1 month check-up this morning. He's now 9 lbs. 13 oz. and 20 in. long. When he was born, he was in the 15th percentile, and now he's in the 50th percentile for weight. His pediatrician has no worries that he's eating and growing. :-) She said that he's doing very well. Everything looks normal. She was very surprised and how well he holds his head up, and for how long he does so.
I absolutely love his pediatrician. I was worried, having to pick someone out, off a list of a million people I didn't know. I am so happy that she was recommended, because we LOVE going to her. He's got his next appointment for a month from now, and they said he has to get a shot. Ouch! I might cry... I'm making Aaron go with us :-)

Baby Survery

1- Where were you when you first found out you were pregnant?
At home.
2- Who was with you?
Aaron
3- How did you find out that you were pregnant?
I wasn't feeling very good that night, and didn't really want to eat dinner. So I was laying in bed, and Aaron went out to the kitchen to make pastaroni for dinner. By the time the smell got to me in the bedroom, I felt so sick. I ran to the bathroom and threw up right away. I called my mom, and she just started laughing, and told me to take the test in the morning. So, of course I did and it was positive
4- What was your first reaction to finding out you were pregnant?
Shocked that it happened so soon, but very excited
5- Who was the first person you told?
Besides Aaron, who was with me when we found out... I told my parents and sister. Then everyone else in the family.
6-Did you plan to get pregnant?
We didn't plan it, but we didn't prevent it.
7- What was the sex?
Boy :-)
8-Did anyone throw you a baby shower?
Yep
9-Did you get any outfits at the baby shower that you just knew you weren't going to put on your baby?
lol, yes!
10- How much weight did you gain?
30 lbs or so.
11- Did you lose all of the weight that you gained?
I only am about 7 lbs. heavier than when I got pregnant
12- Did you get a lot of stretch marks?
yes!
13- What did you crave the most?
Nothing, I was so sick all the time, that I just was thankful when I could keep something down. Aaron hoped the whole time that I'd crave something. One night, I just wanted to eat cornbread. Not really craved it... just wanted it. And Aaron went out at 11pm to go get the ingredients for it, because he was so excited to get something I was craving. He was all ready to wake up at 2am to go to the store for me, lol.
14- Did you crave anything crazy?
No, but I couldn't taste or smell mint. I gagged when someone around me had just brushed their teeth or were chewing gum. I had to buy kids berry or bubble gum toothpaste, just so I could still brush my teeth :-)
15- Who or what got on your nerves the most?
nothing really
16- Were you married at the time?
of course :-)
17- Did you have any complications during your pregnancy?
Yeah. At 12-13 weeks, I was dehydrated from not having any food or drinks for 3 days. I had to have an IV put in me to rehydrate me.
At 15 weeks, I bled (a LOT) and went to the ER and was told that I had had a miscarriage (I found out 3 days later that their tests were wrong, and that I still had my baby).
18- Where were you when you went into labor?
My parents house
19- Did your water break?
Only when Dr. Thorpe broke it :-)
20- Who drove you to the hospital?
My mom and Aaron
21- Did you go early or late?
3 weeks early
22- Who was in the room with you when you gave birth?
Aaron, my mom, my doctor, and a million nurses
23- Was it video taped?
No way.
24- Did you have any drugs for the pain?
I had an epidural at 4 cm, because the anesthesiologist was going home. And of course it wasn't working very well by 9 cm... a lot of pain was felt.
25-Did you go Natural or have a c-section?
Natural
26- What was your first reaction after giving birth?
Exhaustion... and so much excitement that he was finally here!
27- How big was the baby?
6 lbs. 12 oz. and 19 1/2 in.
28- Did your Husband cry?
yep :-)
29- What did you name the baby(s)?
Connor James
30- Did the baby(s) have any complications?
Nothing too major. His heart rate was dropping a little every time I had a contraction, so they wanted him out of me as soon as they could. He also had the cord wrapped around his next two times. After he was born though, everything was okay.
31- How old is your baby today?
1 Month old, yesterday
32- When is the next one(s) coming?
Not for a while.
33-If you could, would you do it all over again?
He's worth every bit of it!!! :-)

1 Month Old

Connor will be 1 month old tomorrow. He's getting so big. He has his doctors appointment next Friday, so we'll get to see how much he's grown. I'm sure he's at least 9 lbs. now. I look at him and still think he's so tiny. But compared to when he came home from the hospital, at barley over 6 lbs.... he's huge! I realize most often that he's changed by how he fits in his cloths. When he was first born, he was wearing preemie clothes. Then he wore newborn clothes for a couple of weeks, and he JUST started fitting into 0-3 months clothes. They don't fall off of him anymore! :-) He's still a very good baby. He's been a little collicy lately, but nothing major. His jaundice is just about gone. He's still a little bit yellow, but he's definatly better. He's holding his head up so well. He will lay on his stomach and bring his head up and look around for a long time before setting it back down. He's even trying to pull himself up when he's on his back. Not that he's anywhere close to rolling over, but he's definatly working on it. When he's on his back, he moves his legs back and forth like crazy, and he even makes us nervous to lay him on the couch by himself. My mom says that he reminds her of my brother. He was rolling over at 10 weeks, sitting up and crawling at 4-5 months, pulling himself up to standing position at 6 months, and walking by 9 months. I'm thinking that's what I've got to look forward to, lol :-)

Four Weeks Old

I can't believe that Connor is 4 weeks old today! Time is going by WAY too FAST! He's getting so much bigger every day. We were just looking back at hospital pictures, and he was so TINY! He's still little, of course... a little over 8 lbs. Still the size of some newborns, lol.

We just found out that he's allergic to disposable diapers. We tried about 5 different brands of diapers, and he had this horrible diaper rash. It started turning into welts/blisters, and they were very close to bleeding. No ointment would work. So, about 3 days ago, we started on ONLY cloth diapers, and within 12-24 hours, most of the rash was gone. Within 2 days, it was completely gone. My poor baby. We came into this knowing that this was going to be a possibility though, because my brother, sisters, and I were ALL allergic to disposable, and my parents had to do cloth diapers also. I guess we were just hoping that Connor would have been different. He's so much happier the past few days though. Diaper changes are a hundred times better. WAY less tears now :-)

Smooching on the Baby

We absolutely love having Connor in our lives. He's such a joy to have here with us. I just can't believe it every day when I realize how big he's getting. He's not going to be a baby much longer!! Before we know it, he'll be grown and off to college, on a mission, and married!!

Valentine's Day

We were all lucky enough to have Denice and Robert (Connor's grandparents) visit this Valentine's Day weekend. We had lots of fun hanging out together. We all went to a church dance on Saturday. Here's some pictures from that night.

Bouncy Seat

Connor loves his bouncy seat. He loves to just sit in it and look around at everything going on. Of course he ONLY will stay in it if it's vibrating or I'm sitting there bouncing him. He has to always be moving :-)

3 Weeks Old

I can't believe how big Connor is getting. He's going to be a month before we know it, and then he's going to be a year.... so on and so forth. We love having him in our lives. He's such a funny little boy, and the things that he does each day amazes us. He's getting so strong, I'm already afraid to leave him on the couch, scared that he might roll off of it. He's not rolling over yet, but he sure moves around a LOT and one day he's going to surprise us all! He's more alert and awake now. He loves just looking around and watching everything and everyone. He's still such a good baby. Hardly ever cries or fusses. Only sometimes when he's hungry, and EVERY diaper change and bath. He HATES being naked, but loves being clothed and warm. Here are some pictures of 3 week old Connor :-)

Silly little boy

When Connor sleeps, he loves being swaddled in a blanket. He won't sleep for more than 10 minutes if he's unwrapped. But, he always pulls his right arm out of the blanket. He LOVES having his hand by his face. Even from when he was in me (see the ultrasound pictures) he ALWAYS has his hands in his face. It's funny, because I wrap him pretty tight in the blanket, and somehow he gets his arm out. And he doesn't care about his left arm... ONLY his right. Strange little boy!

AFTER...

Sunbathing

Connor's jaundice still hasn't disappeared. His levels are still much higher than they should be at his age. His pediatrician said that it's probably that he has Breast Milk Jaundice and that it might take a month or so to get rid of. My poor baby boy. So... we just keep him in the sun as much as we can. It's hard to go outside because it's VERY VERY windy in Beaumont, ALL the time... so we just open the blinds and lay him on our bed. He seems to enjoy it :-)

Happy 25th Birthday, Emily

One of my favorite things that he does is when he opens his eyes real wide, he always wrinkles his forehead like this. I don't know why, but I just think it's so cute :-)

Connor's first day at church. Well, this was the planned outfit, until 5 minutes before we were ready to leave, he leaked and soaked his whole outfit.
